Term Share Certificates

An OECU Term Share Certificate is an excellent way for you to increase the interest you earn on your money at the OECU.

Term Share Certificates are accounts that pay higher rates of interest than a Regular Share Savings or Checking Account. These accounts are on deposit for a specific period of time, ranging anywhere from 6 months to 5 years. You'll make more money with a Term Share Certificate because the rates are higher, and you'll have peace of mind knowing that the rate is guaranteed for the term. For your convenience, OECU will notify you by mail when your certificate matures. If you choose to let your funds stay in the certificate for another term, it will be renewed automatically! You don't have to do a thing!

Flexible Maturity Dates

Term Share Certificates are available for terms of 6 months to 5 years. The member chooses the maturity date. A minimum deposit of $500 is required to open and maintain a certificate.

Jumbo Term Share Certificates are available and are paid higher rates. Jumbo Term Share Certificates require a minimum balance of $90,000.

Package Member Rates

Silver and Gold Package members will receive a higher interest rate on new and renewing Term Share Certificates.

  • .15% higher interest rate is paid to Silver Package members on new and renewing Term Share Certificates.
  • .25% higher interest rate is paid to Gold Package members on new and renewing Term Share Certificates.

The Term Share Certificate has a monthly earning period, and earnings compound quarterly, based on the average daily balance. The dividends on the account will be posted after normal business hours on the last day of each calendar quarter.

At the member's option, dividends may or may not be compounded. You may choose to have dividends paid to you directly via a check or deposited to another account at OECU. Having the dividends sent to you in a check or transferred to another account at OECU will have an effect on the account Annual Percentage Yield (APY). The dividend payment method must be declared at the time the Term Share Certificate is opened or during the renewal period, and may not be changed during the term of the Term Share Certificate.
